John Bechtel with the Bechtel Bible

The page is a photograph of the hand written
inscription from the Bible belonging to George Bechtel. Loosely translated it reads:
This Bible was printed in Basel, Germany (Basel is in Switzerland) in the year
1720. In the year 1730 it was sent to George Bechtel by his father to
America from Germany. Afterward in the years from 1750 till 1760 it became
the property of Gerhart Bechtel. After the death of his wife Rosina Weiss in
the year 1806, Andreas (Andrew) Z. Bauer got it, and after his death Andrew B.
Baur got it, and paid for it ten dollars and twenty five cents. In the year
1847 I had it rebound by Kohler in Philadelphia and paid for rebinding fifteen
dollars."
